You God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
the empty places in our hearts were created to be filled by God alone. The deepest thirst of our soul can only be quenched by Him.

Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare… I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.

Why childlike imagination is the key to mature faith.
“I often wonder if our God-given ability to imagine— what children do naturally—is the discernment tool for apprehending and engaging Godʼs mysterious movements in the world.
When you consider that God made this world out of His imagination and that God created us with the capacity to imagine, doesnʼt it make sense that this faculty, more than any other, might be crucial for our ongoing relationship with God? It makes sense that God gave us imaginations so we could experience all that Heʼs imagined—in a way that only our imaginations can grasp.
Imagination, it seems to me, is the place where the created and the Creator meet, where the material encounters spirit.” -John Van Sloten

Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.

By awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness, O God of our salvation,
You who are the trust of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest sea;
Who establishes the mountains by His strength,
Being girded with might;
Who stills the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.
Psalm 65:5-7
